Emerging talent to look out for in 2023

Oliver Anderson is a talented musician with a lovely acoustic sound who has been promoting his new song “Surrender” on social media sites such as Instagram and TikTok. Everyone who has listened to him has expressed their admiration for him. He is definitely a new rising talent to look out for in 2023.

What we know about Oliver Anderson so far – He is a 22-year-old busker from Bromley who is now touring London to perform his written music.

Oliver’s music journey and how it started

“I got my first guitar for my 17th birthday, I learnt how to play 5 songs and then hit the streets of London to start playing to the world” – This is where his passion for music and performance started.

“Then, as I developed my guitar playing ability, I started doing gigs around London. After 3 years of performing, I decided to take a short break to go travelling with my girlfriend. We lived in our car for 4 months as we drove around England and Scotland. Then we booked a flight to Mexico where we stayed for the next four months. While away in Mexico, we discovered that we had no real way of making any money. I would sing and pass my hat around restaurants to save up for dinner, but we couldn’t afford a place to stay. We ended up sleeping in a park for a little while, and booked flights home as soon as we could (with a lot of help from our concerned parents). When I got back to London, I decided it was time to get back on the streets and play some tunes. From there, the council of the town I play in approached me and told me about a competition. I put my name forward, played and won ‘Bromley’s Got Talent’ which led to me playing my first ever main stage at a festival. To me, this marked the start of my real music career, so I headed to a studio and recorded my debut single, ‘Surrender’ which is now available to stream on all platforms. The song describes my journey through a toxic relationship that I had found myself trapped in when I was 18. Lyrics such as, ‘You held me under ‘til I fell in love with the water’ and ‘Cut my heart out just to see it beating for ya’ describe a codependent and unhealthy environment, and I hope that the song can serve as comfort for people who have experienced a similar scenario”.

This beautiful journey that Oliver Anderson has experienced, is expressed through his new song which is available to listen to on Spotify – We have linked this below!

To keep up to date with Oliver Anderson and his music, he has a gig at Angel on 27th January and performs monthly at The Beech Tree in Orpington, this is on the first Thursday of every month from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

  1. Honestly wish him all the best! Such a talent but also a really lovely and kind young guy. I’ve sat and listened to him play to Bromley a few times and he always brightens people’s day with a smile and a tune!
