Hold hold, hold on, get some tissues, go to a quiet space and listen to Shawn Mendes’ new heartfelt breakup song about missing his ex.
The latest single by the Canadian singer-songwriter ‘When You’re Gone’ is all about his painful breakup with ex Camila Cabello. The lyrics speak the true feelings of the pain and affection love can cause. He feels pain now that she has gone, now that she is no longer side by side everyday. Shawn and Camilla moved in together during the lockdown and were together for 2 years. This song shows the pure love they had for each other, and how much they helped each other grow.
They had quite an admirable relationship and inspired a lot of their young fans, as well as exciting them about their journey together. Tut the pair decided to mutually end the relationship once their schedules returned back to normal. They released a joint statement saying that due to their hectic schedules which included lots of travelling they are best to remain friends.
But Shawn fans, stay positive as this means we will get some great music from the pop star. Shawn has always been a genius at capturing his emotions in his music. He is not afraid to be vulnerable and states in interviews that fans want him to be honest, they want to hear the truth. What better way to do this than pour his heart out through his lyrics.
Shawn has previously talked about suffering from anxiety, in a recent interview with iHeart radio, he talked about not being able to sing and feeling super anxious before heading ou to stage. He mentioned he couldn’t even go on stage at times, and had to cancel TV appearances. he would struggle deeply. Which meant as a singer he could not perform as much as he wanted to. But in more recent press interviews for his new song ‘When You’re Gone’ he speaks out about it being a life long struggle but he has got help from therapists and has learn’t to deal with it. Shawn is an inspiration to his fans and continues to grow stronger and stronger as a performer.

Shawn has said in interviews that he is currently touring and is writing, as soon as the tour is over he will continue to write and record new songs to complete his latest album. I predict the album will be released by November, keep your eyes peeled for the announcements.
