Get ready for the 40th Annual Brit Awards – when are they being broadcasted?

We are back this February with the 40th Annual Brit Awards, hosted by none other than the gracious Jack Whitehall. The prestigious ceremony is back at the o2 Arena in London, UK. Millions tune in every year to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars to wait in anticipation to see if their favourite artist will win an award each year.

When: 8pm, tune in at ITV2

Although, let’s play a game

This week I asked my colleagues for suggestions for predictions for winners next week. We had an extensive discussion, but do note, this year a panel of industry executives are voting. There is no public vote.

Below are my predictions:

  • Best Female Artist – Mahalia
  • Male Solo Artist – Dave/Harry Styles
  • Song of the Year – Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber: I Don’t Care
  • Best Group – Bastille
  • Best New Artists – Dave/Mabel
  • Mastercard Album of the Year – Michael Kiwanuka: Kiwunka
  • International Female Solo Artist – Billie Eilish
  • International Male Solo Artist – Post Malone

Female artists are highly unrepresented this year at the prestigious awards. Only the ‘Female Solo Artist’ category includes females as it is the obvious choice. However, in previous years, female artists have been nominated for ‘Best Group’ and ‘Song of the Year’ including other categories. There is usually a mix, but this year the award show extremely under-represents female vocalists and groups. check out the full nominee list here.
