Megan thee Stallion’s Plan B gets an A+

Megan Thee Stallion proves she’s “still that bitch”, with new 90s inspired, sexually charged rap track, Plan B, throwing shade at a mystery ex.

The song was debuted live during the first weekend of Coachella where she announced “This song is very motherfucking personal to me, and it’s to whom the fuck it may concern,”

One of the biggest names in the male dominated industry of rap, Megan Thee Stallion is no stranger to breaking boundaries for young women. In late 2018, she signed with 1501 Certified and was the first female rapper to ever sign with them.  She received her first billboard hot 100 entry in April 2019, with track “Big Ole Freak,” and her success snowballed from there. The track “Hot Girl Summer”, featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign released  in August 2019 earned Megan her first ever top 20 hit, thanks in part to the viral ‘hot girl summer’ meme. Going from strength to strength. In early 2020 Megan announced the release of her debut album ‘Suga’ on the Tonight Show. However, just a month later, she seemed to be having trouble with her 1501 Certified contract. The hashtag “#FreeTheeStallion” spread like wildfire on social media, as fans flocked to her aid. Filing a temporary restraining order against her label, on 6th March 2020, Megan Thee Stallion released the EP Suga, which contained the song that would change her life. “Savage” one of the songs from the EP, became viral on TikTok, making her a household name. There was even a remix released with Beyonce, which hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Since then, the chart-topper has released hits with Cardi B, Ariana Grande and Doja Cat, has won 3 Grammys. Megan also became the second female rapper to ever perform at the Academy Awards.

Opinion

Plan B is an aggressive, female empowered track, that bitterly addresses Megan Thee Stallion’s exes. Its beat sampling of “Freek’n You” gives the tune a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of Lauryn Hill and 90s Hip Hop. This track is perfect for those “FEELING MYSELF” playlists and will have you screaming at non-existent exes all summer long.
